A Parent’s Prayer
By Margo D.

Heavenly Father, I come intoYour presence
with gladness and praise; thankful for the treasures I call my children. Help me always remember they are a gift from
You; You have entrusted me with lives sweet and dear to Your own heart. Help me to understand and accept the awesome
responsibility of parenthood.
Give me the patience to deal with the inevitable squabbles, demands on
my time, and the million and one questions that will come from those curious
minds.
Help me see things with their wide-eyed wonder, that I may have a
fresh, new perspective on life and a genuine appreciation for all of the
“little” things they are sure to point out.
Help me create a sense of harmony in my home, so my children may grow
in an environment of peace and safety.
Let me take time to hear what they’re truly saying; to find time for
play; to praise and encourage them; to recognize and appreciate their heartfelt
efforts to please me.
Help me discern which battles to fight, that I might provide the right
balance of love and discipline.
Help me cherish each moment; keep me ever mindful there are no “do-overs” as each moment comes but once.
Give me kind and gentle hands that my children may know the tenderness
of a loving touch.
Keep me ever faithful in my prayers, that I may pray without ceasing
for Your very best will in every area of their lives.
Guide me, Father, in all I say and do that I may be the parent you
intend for me to be. Let me be a
reflection of Your goodness and grace.
Let them always feel secure in my love for them, and may they always be
wrapped snugly in Yours. Amen.
