Teens Who
View More Sex...Have More Sex
Christian
media critic and founder of MovieGuide
(www.movieguide.org)
and the Christian Film & Television Commission, Dr. Ted
Baehr, points to a new RAND study as proof that
teenage behavior is affected by television habits and that those habits shape
their attitudes as well.
The
Rand Study, published in " Pediatrics,” the
journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics surveyed over 2000 teens and
tracked 700 sexually active teen between 12 and 17 years old for three
years.
The
eye-opening discovery was that those teens who viewed the most sexual
content in media were almost TWICE as likely to get pregnant or get their
girlfriend pregnant as those who saw the least explicit sex in television and
movies. Sexual content has doubled in recent years coinciding with teenage
pregnancy rates edging up after decades of decline.
MovieGuide is dedicated to redeeming
the values of the entertainment industry by influencing industry executives and
informing and equipping the public about the influence of the entertainment
media. Their REPORT to the ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY has
led to a substantial increase in production and release of family movies and
movies with positive moral references.
Dr.
Ted Baehr is speaking out and bringing awareness to
the new alarming statistics and to the beneficial tools that MovieGuide has to equip
parents in their decision making regarding appropriate TV shows and Hollywood
Movies for their children.
