How Do We Measure Prosperity?

By Tim Smith

I wonder as a Christian…by what rule do I use to measure prosperity? Is my measurement according to the puffs of dust of the world, or is my measurement from the hidden treasures that God unveils to me?

Rather than collect gold and its dross that I must labor to carry, I absorb myself into the richness of God's Word that increases my faith. Every shiny thing of this world is an illusion for behind the counterfeit or facade is a puff of dust that is blown into oblivion never to be retrieved.

The only measurement of true prosperity that has substance is my faith, not the faith of another or the lack of, but my faith in God's love and grace.

"…that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height - to know  the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you my be filled with all the fullness of God." Ephesians 3:16-19

When God adopted me as His child I inherited more than one can comprehend, but he reveals the riches that He has given to me through His Word . "For where your treasure is, there your heart be also." Matthew 6:21

Oh, the richness of one's heart from which the river of God flows and to ride the crest of His love while embraced by the Holy Spirit, this my friend is prosperity!
"he who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." John 7:38
