We Are Heirs Of God’s Wealth

By Beverly Hill McKinney

Most of us if asked “Are you wealthy?” would probably respond no.

But, Christ has untold riches waiting to share with us!  How do we obtain these riches?

Confess and Become His Child

In order to become His child we must acknowledge His gift to us. I John 1:9 tells us if we confess our sins He will forgive us and cleanse our lives. When God becomes the king of our lives, He has promised us that we are His children. In Isaiah 48:5 we read: “Fear not for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name, thou art mine.” As a child of the King we can be assured of His kingdom and all the riches that go with it.

Become an Heir of God

Romans 8:17 tells us that if we are God’s children then we are heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ. Just as an earthly heir inherits the estate of the deceased, as a child of God we inherit His kingdom. All the riches and glory are ours.

Uphold His Name

As heirs, we also have a responsibility to uphold His name. We should be proud to be called Christians and shine forth for the Lord. Matthew 13:43 states the righteous shall shine forth as the sun in the Kingdom of the Father. No earthly heir would fail to uphold the good name of their family. As followers of Christ it is our responsibility to uphold His good name.

Enjoy God’s Wealth

God is always ready to give blessings in our lives. Luke 12:32 states: “It is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.” It is only our unbelief that causes us not to have the good things that God has offered. If someone held out a $100 bill to you, would you immediately take it? Demonstrations of this very act have shown that invariably many would hold back wondering what the “catch” is. God is offering us His wealth and His kingdom, but we often hold back wondering what He requires of us.  The only requirement is to believe on Him and accept what He has in store.

There is an old gospel song that says: “…He owns the cattle on a thousand hills, the wealth in every mine…” Imagine having access to the One who owns all the cattle and all the wealth.

Let’s accept the invitation of the Father and become a joint-heir with Christ, then we, too, can partake of the wealth that awaits us as His children.
