He
sat. It was there. He stood. It was willing. He walked. It was always enticing.
Sometimes loud, sometimes quiet. He ran, slept, ate, and played ball. It was
nearby, always present. He changed grocery stores. It went along. He drove the
other way to work. It followed. He read a book. It lingered. He went to the
beach or headed south. It was still there. He turned out the lights. It
remained; ever patient, ever soft. He crept through the night. It went with
him. In broad daylight, it remained close.
Finally,
he acknowledged it. Finally, he turned and embraced it. He prayed and it came
closer. He follows it now. He is changed.
Listen!
We can hear it, too. It is always there. Always beckoning. Always reaching out.
Do we want to hear it? Do we care enough to hear it? All we have to do is open
our hearts and accept it. God's call is always there, waiting for us to turn
and answer it.
The
voice of love that says, "Come follow me . . ."
