There
Is Unlimited Power
By Fylvia Fowler Kline
In Jesus’ power, I see what
He can do for me, but I don’t see the power-filled things I could, in turn, do
for others. My Christianity seems stuck in a rut of ambivalent words and deeds
that only whisper my faith. There’s no fire, no pizzazz. Nothing I do really
smacks with the spunk of an I-got-Jesus-power attitude.
My walk contradicts my
favorite verse in the Bible: “The person who trusts me will not only do what
I’m doing but even greater things, because I, on my way to the Father, am
giving you the same work to do that I’ve been doing.” (John 14:11, 12, The
Message)
There is unlimited power in
that verse. There has to be--simply because it is Jesus’ words and it is
the truth. Before He left, he gave us options unlimited and a power supreme. He
said we have access to the same Power He had while on earth and that we can all
the same things He did and even more. This is no exaggeration. He said it; we
can do it.
So what’s standing in my
way? It’s certainly not a dislike for power! I believe it is the lack of time I
spend trying to access the Power. If I take the time that Jesus did to connect
with the Power, the Power would be mine! I try to imagine the person I’d be if
I were consistently and continually connected to the Power: I see myself
with an intuitive sixth sense that enables me to easily determine where God
needs me to be and what He wants me to say or do.
