A
Mom's Prayer
By
Jennifer Anne F. Messing
Lord, thank You for a new day. Thank You for another chance to be a good mom. Forgive me for the times when I've been impatient, overbearing, and unloving. Help me change my selfish and sinful ways.
Please
give me Your strength and wisdom. I
commit my thoughts to You. Help me
accomplish my plans today. Clear my mind
so I can discern what projects need my attention.
Lord,
I offer You all of my efforts at home.
Grant me a cheerful disposition while I'm cooking and cleaning, and
while I'm talking with my husband or the kids.
I
want to enjoy my children, Lord. I want
to be carefree enough to laugh at their silly jokes. I want to take the time to listen to their
stories about friends and school, and about their real passions and
interests. I want to be there for them
when they are hurting with an understanding, listening ear.
Most
of all, Lord, I want to teach my children to love You and serve You by my
faithful example. That's not always
easy, but by Your grace I know You will enable me to fulfill my calling as a
godly wife and mother.
Thank
You, Lord, for entrusting these precious children to me. I love them so much. And I long to love them the way You want me
to love them—not only the way I think they should be loved. I want to be the mom they really need, not
just the kind of mom I think they need.
Lord, fill me with Your thoughts, Your compassion, Your forgiveness, and
Your unfailing love. Amen.
