“Blessed Is God For He Shall See The Pure In heart?”

By Patti Iverson

Nope! Matthew 5:8 says: “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.” God does see those who strive to have pure hearts and He IS blessed by it. Mom Teresa said, “Prayer gives us a pure heart and a pure heart can do much.” But ya gotta want it. Satan wants your pure heart too. Are you righteous? If God is first in your life, then yes, you are. It is a matter of your heart and motives.

God shows Himself to those who seek Him. “Mom, I cleaned my room, took out the trash, how else can I help you? Can I go to Danny’s party and drive your car?” Ulterior motives at it’s finest! J  A new, pure heart desires things of God and loves Him with all your soul, heart, and mind. Otherwise, the old heart will kick back in and rule over us.

Geraldine wailed, “The devil made me do it!” “I can’t help it. It’s how I was raised.”  Excuses God already knows. “If we devote ourselves to God and living by the Holy Spirit we will grow fast.” Galatians 5:24  Pure hearts and motives, not excuses, win out every time. “Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does good is of God; the one who does evil HAS NOT SEEN GOD.” 3 John

So STOP IT!  JUST QUIT!  Are our hearts blind, burnt out, selfish, secretive, callous, or confused? Are they too full up of “stuff”? Are our hearts distracted ‘n detoured in things of this world?  We may be so wholly entangled ‘n ensnared in sin that we can’t even feel or know our hearts anymore—But God knows them, and He wants us back! Here’s the way:  “Turn our eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow s-t-r-a-n-g-e-l-y dim, in the light of His glory and grace.” Okey dokey! It’s always about Jesus, not you, not me. Let’s just try. He knows our motives and hearts already.

While walking in a parking lot, I fell. Lady in car hollered, “Are you hurt?” Touched by her concern, I replied, “I’m okay.” “Oh good.  Will you vacate your parking space now?” Harumph! A pure heart doesn’t think of itself. Our good deeds and voices come out of hiding as we open ourselves to the Holy Spirit.

“A good reputation grows up. A bad reputation shoots up. It’s better to die with a pure heart and a good name than to live with a bad heart and a bad reputation.”

A Vegas showgirl said, “I used to be Snow White but I drifted.” Used to make me laugh out loud—but not now. It’s sorrowful. She won’t see God. L James 1:27 says “… to keep pure and undefiled before GOD, keep oneself unspotted from this world.” THEN we will have a pure heart and see God. Wowie
