I have experienced a wide range of emotions this
election season. Maybe you can
relate. While there were candidates
presented to us in the Primary with some good qualities, I found it difficult
to find one candidate that I could truly stand behind. It was distressing to me to see candidates
rising in popularity whose ideologies were in direct opposition to my own
Christian beliefs and values.
When I would see bumper stickers and lawn signs for these candidates I would sigh, “Oh God, what are we to do?” One day, in my mind’s eye, I saw written before me, “OGod, SaveUs.” I thought, “That’s it. Pray!” I prayed, “God, please save us! Save us from false hope, save us from ourselves. Save our country! Save our babies! Save our soldiers!” A peace came over me as I was praying.
God’s Word says in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, which are called by my name,
shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then
will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”. What a joy to bring our
burdens to the Lord. We as Christians
have a wonderful gift. We can speak
directly to God because of Jesus. Our sins
are covered. God hears our voice. Through my prayer I remembered that God is in
control and that I have no need to fear.
God brought me back to the proper perspective – His perspective.
Through my prayers, two bumper stickers were
born. “OGod, SaveUs, 08”, and, “God YSarah
– Pray Now.”
I feel that through these bumper stickers that
now, I, as a Christian, have a voice in this election season. My hope is that when you see these bumper
stickers on cars around town you will pray right then for the candidates, for
our country, for the nations. I also
hope you will join me in putting one or both of these bumper stickers on your
vehicle. Let’s bring God into this
election season through prayer so that, as He promised, He will hear from
heaven, forgive our sin and heal our land.
These bumper stickers are available for a donation of any amount at the
following places: Evangel Book and
Bible, KDove, The Christian Journal, and the
Republican Party Headquarters.
